We rather pride ourselves on NOT being another “run-of-the-mill” Airbnb‘ed second home for a family who can’t quite afford a lake home. If that’s what your’re after, there are plenty of those.
We’re more like the people behind the “BUY LOCAL” sign…
We’re the first to admit it: You won’t find the same whitewashed look as you would at a corporate-run airbnb or a top-tier hotel.
Here, you’re much more likely to meet the owners, who might hand you a basket of fresh duck eggs, or wildflowers and a genuine “WELCOME!” when you arrive.
Your cabin will have been BUILT by the man in the photo to the left, andcleaned prior to your arrival by the lady on the right. She’s quick to smile and tell you, “the towels might not all match, but they’re certain to be clean!”
In our seventh year doing this project we have discovered a few key ingredients that make your visit a wonderful experience with memories that last a lifetime.
There are actually quite a few places that do something like what we offer… but here are a couple reasons we think we’re different:
While we have enough acreage to double or triple the number of cabins, we have chosen to keep the number low. Currently there are just five cabins on five acres. (And only 3 campsites on teh seven acres across the road)
All of the artwork (and there’s a lot) in the cabins has almost entirely been painted by members of our family (Martha Smith, Elaine Hanton) and most of all by my lovely wife, Geri.
We periodically stay in each of our cabins (and occasionally the campground, too) to LIVE in the spaces and find things to improve. Bringing my mother in law and our two very young daughters means we’re thinking about a variety of needs, primarily focusing on making this a highly-functional FAMILY dwelling, and you can guarantee, Grandma loves baking cookies with our two littles.
That said, we have come to peace with the fact that there will ALWAYS BE THINGS WE CAN IMPROVE. So our cabins and campgrounds are kinda like life and we’re happy to share our steady progress with a few of the right travelers.
Right now, we think our little inn + campground is pretty cool. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do—or more, hell, you get all the pleasure and none of the work.
Unless you really want work…Then we have plenty.
Thanks for looking, we hope your visit is wonderful.
Sincerely,
Jesse + Geri, Molly and Mattie Moskel

Roughly a half a mile out… you’ll simply hug the coastline and follow the yellow trail-markers. Fishing is great on the tip of the peninsula… you can double back, or continue all the way to the campgrounds if you’re feeling adventurous. Click the button to view a map with detailed instructions below.

the restaurant at the marina just passed the bridge has changed hands now for a third time in the last two years please check with us prior to making this journey… If all goes well, the Current barbecue smokehouse called driftwood will be there for the rest of our lives, we love it there. It has amazing food and you can get there by Canoe or kayak and under 20 to 30 minutes.

All of the waters was in our cove are tremendous breeding grounds for all of the fish that Lake Murray is famous for. Catfish bass brim sunfish… even alligator gar! If you find certain pockets within the cove, you can pull them out all afternoon. South Carolina offers a fishing license for just $10/year… possibly the best money you can spend.

There is a FAQ section on the front page of our website here. There is a growing wealth of commentary here.

The following is mainly a collection of rants and emotional outbursts by a guy who is too old to start something new like a resort. With ZERO background in construction, I bare my soul for your laughter. There may be a few useful tidbits mixed in. That is purely by accident. Read at your own risk.
Many who stay here find the little peninsula we occupy to be a magical place… we find that magical people tend to be attracted here, so we’re undecided on which come first.
What we do know for certain is that we owe a degree of gratitude to a lot of folks for us to have the priveledge of hosting you on this land. What follows is a rag-tag retelling of a lot of bits of story, and some history about the land and the people who’ve come before us…
